Mojitos and Scrabble, Anyone?

Monique will tell you with a mischievous twinkle in her eye that one night over tall glasses of mojitos started it all! During a festive evening with friends, an unusual piece of adorned Scrabble jewelry glimpsed mysteriously by the flicker of candlelight had sparked and ignited her passion for miniature things that are unique, beautiful and eco-friendly. It was this moment that inspired the beginning of Fog City Charms.

However, as you dig a little deeper, this engaging and witty story (as with the woman herself) is even richer in depth and meaning than first appearances.

Jewelry has always been a source of creative expression as well as a medium for imparting beauty, love and friendship for Monique. She has always been that generous and knowing spirit her friends seek out when they are in need of that perfect piece of sparkle and light to complement their outfits on special occasions. Monique has an eye for choosing the pieces that draw the “oooh’s” and the “aaah’s” from women and men alike at social gatherings. Happily obsessed with the mission to create memorable pieces, Monique sees design possibilities in the most unexpected places: the antique frame around the grill of an air vent, the intricate lines and colors on a map, and even beautiful pieces of writing. In fact, her signature glass charms borrow words from a vintage dictionary from 1964! Monique handles and packages each carefully adorned Scrabble tile and glass charm delicately and lovingly, as she imparts these inspirational moments, memories and well wishes on to its new wearer.
